CDE EXPO Electrifies Again

The Clarksville Department of Electricity celebrated Public Power Week with its annual Electric EXPO, on Saturday Oct. 7 at the CDE office.  Approximately 1,500 people were treated to lunch and many exciting activities that included pole climbing demonstrations, a high voltage safety demonstration, energy saving exhibits, and an electric safety booth for kids.  Over 1,000 gift bags were given out to CDE customers who brought the EXPO postcard they received in the mail.  As a participant in the ENERGY STAR® Change a Light, Change the World campaign, CDE included compact fluorescent light bulbs in each bag this year.  These bulbs use one-third the energy and last up to ten times longer than standard incandescent light bulbs.

Members of the Clarksville Police Department were on hand to assist with a child ID program offered by CDE.  Fingerprints and other information were collected from children to help law enforcement authorities locate them if they ever become missing.

The gang from Beaver 100.3 FM and Eagle 94.3 FM was also there providing great music, door prizes and free ice cream from Purity.

As always, EXPO was a great opportunity for customers to meet with CDE employees to ask questions and learn more about their electric utility.
