Labeling Requirements for Electric Meter Bases
- Electric meter bases and main disconnects on any structure with more than one base (including gang bases) shall be permanently marked indentifying the apartment, suite, bay, department, etc., that it serves. Whenever possible, meter base markings should coincide with the postal address of the area served by the meter and base.
- It shall be the property owner's or his agent's responsibility to verify the accuracy of the labeling. Electric service will not be connected until bases are marked appropriately.
- If at any time identification is not clearly legible, service will not be reconnected until the location is identified and re-labeled by the owner.
- CDE will not be responsible for errors in metering resulting from meter sockets improperly marked.
